Sigma Delta Tau, Information

Sigma Delta Tau Info

Our sacred crest bears our motto
Patriae Multae Spesuna or
"One hope of many people".

Now look closely at the crest because in it is our symbol: The Torch.
The Torch of Sigma Delta Tau is made of gold, decorated with six pearls and
a diamond lighting up the flame. The pearls stand for: Health and Social Awareness, Alumnae, Retreat, Panhellenic, Philanthropy, and Sisterhood. The diomond stands for scholarship.

We are very proud of our symbol and wear it over our hearts
in the form of our pin.

Our gem is the Lapis Lazuli,

the stone worthy of the pharoahs of ancient Egypt.

Our flower is the Golden Yellow Tea Rose.

The teddy bear is our beloved mascot!

Our colors are cafe o'lait and old blue. If you're not sure of what those colors are exactly, don't worry. You're not the first. We can try to explain. Cafe o' lait is French for coffee with cream. Think of what that looks like! Old blue is a dusty shade of the color.

The Rose

The Golden Yellow Tea Rose, the flower chosen to represent Sigma Delta Tau, has deep meaning for the sisters. The stem of the rose represents the growth of the sisters as individuals and the sorority as a whole. The thorns on the stem remind us of the difficult times in our lives that we endure together. Lastly, and most importantly, we have the radiant bloom on top. The golden color of the rose represents joy, gladness, welcome, rememberance, and caring. Each sister represents a petal on the rose, together making up the very bloom itself.
